Unity Developer
Console Port Engineer

Scope of Work

  • Bringing an existing VR build to the PlayStation 5 hardware and toolchain.
  • Rebuilding the interaction layer around PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
  • Profiling and optimising to run at native 90Hz and at 60Hz reprojected to 120Hz, with no dropped frames.
  • Aligning official platform terminology across 28 languages.
  • Adapting UI, comfort options and accessibility settings to console expectations.
  • Preparing the build for platform certification and submission.

Technologies Used

  • Unity Engine (XR pipeline)
  • C# (gameplay, input and platform layer)
  • PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers (haptics & adaptive triggers)
  • GPU / CPU profiling and frame-budget analysis
  • Platform certification & submission pipeline

Key Challenges

  • In VR a dropped frame isn't ugly: it's nauseating. The frame budget is a hard constraint, not a target.
  • Console certification turns edge cases into blockers, which changes how you scope and test from day one.

What I'm Taking From It

  • Reading a codebase you did not write, and making it run on different hardware, teaches more than starting from scratch.
  • Measuring before optimising: the profiler decides, not intuition.
  • Shipping to a first-party platform demands a discipline that makes every project afterwards better.
